4 Things To Never Do In An MRI Machine

1. Wear Jewelry

Before your MRI can begin, you'll be required to remove any jewelry and/or body piercings. Unfortunately, metal and the strong magnetic field of the MRI get along way too well. While it might be inconvenient to take off that bracelet with the way too tiny clasp that makes it so hard to put on yourself (Seriously, why do they do that?), it is very important for your safety.

2. Touch the Inside of the Machine

MRIs use radio frequency transmitters that get really hot. This is why we make sure there is always something between your body and the inside of the machine. It is to prevent any possibility of you getting burned as the scanner heats up.

3. Panic

This one probably sounds obvious, but many people struggle to relax while they are in the MRI machine. One of the most effective ways to relax is to control your breathing. It will help clear your mind and allow you to focus all of your energy on something other than the MRI, such as puppies or napping.

4. The Latest Dance Craze

Sorry folks, but leaving your boogie shoes at home is a must. It is so important that you stay still during your MRI scan. Much like if you try to bust a move while a regular picture is being taken, your MRI images will come out blurry if you move during the scan and you will have to repeat it.

In all seriousness, MRI is considered to be one of the safest medical imaging tools. They are painless and do not involve any radiation. Most importantly, an MRI scan can help with a diagnosis and doctors order them to benefit to your health.
